Camera-Head Shark, The Forensics, Rorie Kelly,
Katie Pearlman and The Point —A celebration of Local Original Music
Musicians from
the critically acclaimed LIVE IN THE LOBBY concert series move to the
main stage at Suffolk's largest theatre for a showcase of some of the
best original music Long Island has to offer. Support the volunteers and
musicians who have worked hard for FIVE SEASONS of Live in the Lobby so
that original music has a home on Long Island.
The piano-happy quirkpop
quartet Camera-Head Shark have written, recorded, and self-released an album
called Oh, You. A lot of people really like the record, and a lot of people
haven’t heard it. The band has played live shows across the Northeastern US,
from Baltimore to Boston, in all types of venues, have been featured on FOX’s
“Fearless Music” television program, and have had a bunch of music publications
and radio people say nice things about them. The Forensics (4NZX) formed as an
accidental union of old friends which turned out to be the perfect ingredients
for "The Electronic Persuasion" (a nickname for their sound). They're best
described as an Electronica Jam Band. Patchogue (P-Town), has been the Epicenter
of their humble beginnings. In a single season the Forensics had naturally
achieved through their music what some bands strive for but rarely come close
too...a following. Since age 13, Rorie Kelly’s songs progressed from angsty
two-chord laments about how no one understands to melodic explorations of human
interaction, society and personal independence (and how no one understands). In
the past several years she played at every cafe she could, discovered the
bizarre relationship between her most personal dreams and self-marketing, wrote
songs about it, and just completed her first full length album, Once Upon a
Bottlecap.
Katie Pearlman released
her second album, We Make This in a gala concert Live in the Lobby November 1.
This multitalented Singer/Songwriter/Drummer/Guitarist creates a vintage, yet
new style of American Country and Soul using her amazing multi-instrumental
talents. Her talented band have performed up and down the east coast thrilling
audiences with her terrific songs and a jamming sound with traces of the
Grateful Dead, Phish, Fleetwood Mac and the Band.
The Point brings an
intense new sound to the realm of live music today. Best described as the
marriage of swirling soundscapes with a deeply rhythmic foundation, they produce
a sound altogether their own. Extended jams are likely to reach an epiphany with
three-part harmonies soaring over the band. Progressive songwriting and keen
musicianship never outshadow the ones and twos: the listener never forgets that
they are hearing a live band on organic instruments.
