The
Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts continues support for Long island
Songwriters and Composers in presenting THE LONG ISLAND COMPOSER ALLIANCE
CONCERT.
In an
adventurous afternoon of local premieres, composers drawn from the ranks of
the Long Island Composers Alliance have created works for musicians on the
roster of Concert Artists Guild. The collaborative composer/artist pairings
include: Jay Gach writing for cellist Soo Bae; Dana Richardson writing for
violinist Michi Wiancko and pianist Tanya Bannister; Paul Hefner and Avraham
Sternklar writing solo piano works for Rorianne Schrade; and Herb Deutsch
writing for marimba player Svet Stoyanov.
The Long
Island Composers Alliance was founded in 1972 by the Marga Richter and
Herbert Deutsch. Since its inception, LICA has produced some 340 concerts at
libraries, colleges, museums and art centers across the island, presenting
1600 new works by more than 100 composers.
Concert
Artists Guild was founded in 1951. Its mission is
to discover, nurture and promote young
musicians. Over 500 artists and ensembles have received
invaluable career advancing services from CAG.
