- JAY SCOTT BAND - KATIE PEARLMAN BAND
A celebration of
original music from Long Island on the Main Stage.
PATCHOGUE JAM 5
features full sets of original music by four fantastic bands including THE
ELECTRIX, MILES TO DAYTON, THE JAY SCOTT BAND and the KATIE PEARLMAN BAND.
To add to the celebration, the amazing keyboardist Jeff Pearlman will play
with all four bands in celebration of his 50th birthday! This will be a
night to remember!
THE
ELECTRIX are
making their Patchogue Theatre debut with a set of their own songs. This is
a group of talented and seasoned musicians, each with a
lifetime of diverse experience in the music field. They’ve been performing
since 1995 and have developed a reputation as one of the leading “jam bands”
in the Northeast, usually performing mostly classic rock covers to huge
crowds at bars, festivals and countless other venues. The Electrix are
putting together a very special show for Patchogue Jam 5 – a set of of 100%
original Electrix music.
MILES TO DAYTON has a simple musical recipe: four-part vocal harmony, clever
songwriting, improvisational violin and cello, and an infectious rhythm
section that stirs up the creative stew. At the heart of their unique marriage of
styles lies a real-life marriage: vocalist Krista Preddice shares the
microphone with husband Jonathan Preddice, who proposed to Krista on stage at the Patchogue Theatre during
their June, 2007 performance. In addition to being the principal songwriter
for the group, Jon also shines on guitar, cello, accordion, and trumpet.
Bassist Dave March (Krista’s bother) and violinist Leanne Strom (Jon’s
sister) add depth to the vocal harmonies, with Dave’s low, soulful bass and
Leanne’s soaring classical virtuosity providing the sonic bookends for the
M2D sound. Drummer Brian Kroll, the newest member of the group, propels the
music forward with an exciting and funky edge.
JAY SCOTT went solo in 2004, concentrating
on his own music after several years in bands. His fans describe Jay
Scott’s sound as “Honest”, “Passionate” and “Soulful," because of Jay’s
unique voice and acoustic guitar sound, combined with the passionate
delivery of his songs. His first solo album, Homegrown, was recorded live
in 2008 before a packed audience at Patchogue Theatre’s “Live in the
Lobby” and released on Paradiddle Records. The follow up, his studio EP,
Life in a Hurry," was released on Paradiddle in 2010. He currently is
working on another studio project, and just released the first song from
that project, “Nothing left To Lose” on ITunes.
Katie Pearlman
has assembled an all-star group of musicians for her third album, Girls Like
Us that was released in January, 2012. Girls Like Us is a concept album of
songs about women, based on true stories of surviving hardship and
heartache. This is definitely Katie's best collection of songs and her
soulful vocals have gotten a bit sweeter. Perhaps the change of instrument
(drums to guitar) has had an effect, albeit for the better. One listener
compared her to the late and honorable, Harry Chapin. On this album, Katie
does what music does best...she offers inspiration during hard times.
Existing members; Jeff Pearlman (keys), Joe Cesare (elec. guitar), and Tom
Bowler (bass) are joined by Jimmy Fleming (Fiddle, Mandolin), and Chris
Howard (drums). Local singer/songwriters, Cathy Kreger and Jessie Haynes,
also appear on the album singing background vocals. This is the first album
that Katie is leading her band on acoustic guitar, instead of from behind
the drums. While her newly expanded group has more of a folk and country
sound, Katie sticks to her rock roots, offering an album that many will
love.
