DansTrax: Celebrating a Legacy of Dance

DansTrax: Celebrating a Legacy of Dance is a performance project created to pay tribute to the artistic legacy of the Brookhaven Theater Dance Guild (BTDG) founded by Joan Stroud in 1981.  The performance will feature works by choreographers Robert Battle, Bob Fosse, Victoria Marks, and many local artists.  A special tap work will be performed by BTDG alumni to honor Forest Bonshire, former resident choreographer and Chairman of BTDG’s Executive Board.

DansTrax provides a platform for BTDG alumni, alongside a new generation of dancers and choreographers, to showcase their artistry, and to provide young dancers from Suffolk County with an opportunity to work together with guest and local choreographers.

DansTrax: Celebrating a Legacy of Dance is the culminating event of the first Brookhaven Community Dance Festival, produced by CoDanceCo in collaboration with the following dance studio owners and dance teachers:

Diane Giattino/Stage Door School of Dance; Barbara Mordente/Brookhaven School of Dance; Claudia Dickson/Reflections Dance Acadmy; Danielle Angrisani, Nuala DeGeorge, and Colleen Murphy.

The Festival runs from August 17-20 where, over four days there will be master classes, rehearsals for dance etudes choreographed by guest and local choreographers, dance films, and informal showings.

For more information on the Brookhaven Community Dance Festival please contact Nancy Duncan at NMoog@optonline.net
