This concert is a very special fundraiser that was
created to help raise Prostate Cancer awareness. The money raised from the
event will make it possible for Brookhaven Hospital to offer free PSA
screenings to the men of the community. The concert will feature
performances from The Stanton Anderson Band and Wes Houston.
About The Stanton Anderson Band
The Stanton Anderson Band has been called Long Island’s
best live act ever. The band was instrumental in establishing the music
scene on Long Island and helped pave the way for many other acts like
Twisted Sister & Zebra. The peak of the band’s success was the 1970s when
the opened at Nassau Coliseum for the Marshall Tucker Band. They also opened
for many major stars including The Allman Brothers. The band split up during
the 80s to pursue other interests, but their following of dedicated fans
came out in full force for their reunion in 2000. The band picked up where
they left off, with gigs like opening up for Eddie Money at the Westbury
Music Fair & headlining a performance at the Patchogue Theater. They
frequently perform at Mulcahy’s in Wantagh.
About Wes Houston
Wes Houston has been playing for more than four
decades. His style has been described as a mixture of folk and blues with
rock, country, jazz and even gospel influences. A Queens native, Wes began
playing in local spots across the tristate area in the 1960s. Wes' All-Star
Space Band was Long Island's premier musical circus during the '70's Golden
Era of Long Island music – when there were over 300 clubs with live music at
one time. That band was the very first to play at NY's legendary "CBGB's"
and the very last band to play at "Max's Kansas City." Their single
"Wandering" became a hit in many college towns across the Northeast. Today
the Wes Houston Band plays engagements from Performing Arts Series to local
pubs.
