Patchogue Theatre Pops Orchestra
with Classical Guitarist Kenneth Meyer
The Patchogue Theatre For The Performing
Arts proudly presents the debut concert of its very own pops orchestra. The
concert will feature soloist Kenneth Meyer and a program of popular
orchestral selections.
Since his professional concert debut at the
Teatro de la Opera de Maracay, Dr. Meyer, a Patchogue native, has performed
in Europe, South America, and throughout North America. In addition to live
concerts, his performances have been featured on film, radio, and on the
Albany Records label. Dr. Meyer is frequently in demand as a guest artist at
numerous colleges and universities across the country. An active performer
and teacher, he has been featured at the Rome, Alexandria, Eastman Guitar
Summerfest, and the Alirio Diaz Guitar festivals. Dr. Meyer’s commitment to
new music has led to awards from the Barlow Endowment and the Argosy
Foundation, interpretive instruction from Milton Babbitt, and premiere
performances of compositions by Leslie Basset, Edward Green, James
Piorkowski, Nicolas Scherzinger, Donald J. Sparr, and Canadian composer
Robert Baker. His diversity as a musician has led to performances with the
Syracuse Opera, the Broadway touring production of the Who’s rock opera,
Tommy, and, a fundraising performance for Syracuse University attended by
former President Bill Clinton.
