Betty Buckley—Broadway By Request

Betty Buckley made her Broadway debut in 1969 and has been
called "The Voice of Broadway" by New York Magazine. Her rendition of
"Memory" in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats established her reputation and she
has recorded 13 solo albums and now tours extensively across the U.S. each
year. She is also composed most of the songs on her first recording and has
been featured on many Broadway compilation recordings. She earned a Tony
Award for her performance as Grizabella, the Glamour Cat in Andrew Lloyd
Webber’s Cats, a second Tony nomination for her performance in Triumph of
Love and an Olivier Award for the London performance as Norma Desmond in
Sunset Boulevard. Her most recent albums, Quintessence and 1967, were
released by Playbill Records in February 2008. Quintessence features jazz
arrangements of standards by her long time collaborator, jazz pianist Kenny
Werner. 1967 is a recording made when Miss Buckley was just 19, produced by
T-Bone Burnett. On television, Ms. Buckley is perhaps best known for the
1977–81 TV dramedy Eight is Enough where she was cast as "Abby", who went on
to become stepmother to the eight children to which the series' title
refers. Her other television credits include Evergreen, Without a Trace, OZ,
The Pacific, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Melrose Place, Ride-Along
and Monk . Patchogue Theatre presents "Betty Buckley; Broadway On request",
where Ms. Buckley will take requests from the theatre patrons.
