The acclaimed Irish ensemble, Danú, celebrates Christmas and the New Year in an all new
concert for the holidays- An Emerald Isle Christmas. The winter is full of celebrations in Ireland
and Christmas is one of the most important holidays of the calendar year. Christmas in Ireland
is celebrated between Christmas Eve (December 24) and Nollaig Na mBan or Women’s
Christmas (January 6). On December 26, families in Ireland observe St. Stephen’s Day or Wren
Day. Music, song, and dance are a vital part of joyous community celebrations across Ireland
during the holiday season. An Emerald Isle Christmas offers a taste of these extraordinary and
centuries old events.
Celtic music lovers around the globe have been thrilled by Danú’s virtuoso players on fiddle,
flutes, button accordion, percussion, and pipes and the gorgeous voice of Nell Ní Chróinín.
Colorful Irish step-dancers add to the festivities. Winners of major awards from the BBC and
Irish Music Magazine, Danú celebrates its 25th anniversary with a new celebration of the
holidays from their homeland.
